

Mrs. Nold was born in Houston, attended River Oaks Elementary, Lanier Junior High, and graduated from Lamar High School. She then attended Arlington Hall, a finishing school in Northern Virginia, before attending the University of Texas, where she was a member of the Delta Delta Delta sorority. Upon receiving a bachelor’s degree in fine art, she studied the Art Students League of New York. After her studies in New York, she became an art critic for the Houston Chronicle. She left Houston after getting married in 1951 to Herbert S. Mayberry. She returned to Houston in 1977 and joined the law firm of Liddell Sapp, now part of Locke Lord, as a records clerk. She married Ewell K. “Sonny” Nold, a retired Air Force captain who later became the personal pilot of oilman John W. Meacom.
Upon her retirement in 1990, Mrs. Nold returned to her passion of drawing and pastels. She took numerous art classes at the Glassell School of Art. She was an active alum in Delta Delta Delta and was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She had a lifelong passion for art, history and helping save homeless animals. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.
Mrs. Nold is preceded in death by her parents, Judge and Mrs. T.H. Cody; brothers, Dr. Claude C. Cody III, Dr. Melville L. Cody, and Thomas Hughes Cody Jr.; sisters-in-law Barbara Myers Cody Greenwood and Muriel Fursteneau Cody. Mrs. Nold is survived by her daughters, Muffet M. Bond and Molly M. Remes; her son-in-law Bill Bond; and her grandchildren, Tyler Bond and his wife Liz Ragland; Whitney Bond and her fiancé Kurt Stump, and Nicholas A. Remes; great-granddaughter, Libby Bond; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the conscientious caregivers who dedicated themselves to Mrs. Nold’s well-being during her illness.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, February 17, in the chapel of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, 3471 Westheimer Road, Houston. A reception will be held in the Hines Baker Room, adjacent to the chapel, in St. Luke’s immediately following the service.
