Anne Swaim

She was born in Plainview, Texas, on May 13, 1930. She grew up in Hereford, Texas and

graduated as salutatorian from Hereford High School, class of 1947. Growing up in a farming community prepared her for many life experiences.

After graduating from business school, and moving to Houston, she accepted a position in the international division of Continental Carbon Company. She was a loyal employee for over 35 years. It was during this time that she moved her family to Meyerland, where she made many lifelong friends.

Anne demonstrated her love for friends and family through her home cooked meals and her delicious desserts. No one turned down the opportunity to enjoy her fried chicken dinners. She made birthdays a special event and her Christmas Eve dinners were beautifully prepared.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Myron and Bob, and her husband, Fred. During their years together they made many happy memories with friends and family at Astros games, the symphony, and theater. They traveled frequently to spend time with their family across the United States.

She will be remembered by her son and daughter, Dana and Christy, and their respective spouses, Betsy and David. Her four grandchildren will share in the memory of a loving, generous, and kind “Grandma Anne” who doted on them. She loved being GG Anne to her three great grandchildren. Anne was blessed with her bonus family of Fred’s loving daughters, Megan, Shawn, Marney, Paige, Margo, and their families.

Mom lived her life with quiet and humble dignity, with a friendly smile, and a kind word to everyone.

“Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her; many women do noble things, but you surpass them all. Charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her words bring her praise at the city gate.” Proverbs 31:28-31
