

Annie Beatrice “Bea” (Ramey) Clark, 84, passed away into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 24, 2019 surrounded by her family in Houston. Bea was born in Waynesboro, Mississippi on November 25, 1934 to parents Annie Huberta Dickerson Ramey and Charles Wesley Ramey who preceded her death along with her three brothers, Charles Wesley, Jr, Ralph Ramey, Alton Ramey, and her sister, Rubye Kohli.
Bea is survived by her husband of 65 years Gerry A. Clark, and by her three children and their spouses, Rusty Clark and wife Peggy Clark, Kelli Clark Smith and husband Larry Smith, and Suzie Clark Austin and husband Steve Austin, her sisters Carlene Singletary, and Bobbie Holt, her 8 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews and friends.
Immediately following high school graduation, Bea moved to Houston at only 17 years old and attended the University of Houston. She met and married her husband, Gerry, and convinced her parents and three sisters to eventually move to Houston and join her. She and Gerry opened several restaurants in Houston including Aunt Bea’s Home Cooking, Youngblood’s, and The Sveden House in Town & Country Village. In the 1970’s and 1980’s, Bea became a multi-million dollar producing top realtor in the Memorial area and one of the first women to be recognized in her company. An avid gardener, Bea was a founding member of the Memorial Hollow Women’s Garden Club. Bea leaves a legacy of her love for Christ and studying His Word. She was an 18+ year member and Bible study teacher at Community Bible Study and a lifelong 50+ year member of Tallowood Baptist Church.
Bea was a beloved wife, mother, sister, friend, Bible study leader, aunt, and neighbor. She was known for her gracious Southern hospitality, entertaining with style and her love for her family. She was a true “Steel Magnolia.”
Visitation will be at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 3rd from 5-8pm and the Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held at Tallowood Baptist Church at 555 Tallowood Drive on Thursday, April 4th at 11:00 am. A reception will follow in the Tallowood Fellowship Hall and all are welcome.
