April Lea Tucker

April graced the world on October 25th of 1976, when she was born to parents Dorothy and Dale in Houston, TX at Spring Branch Memorial Hospital. A proud elder sister to Terra and a beloved stepdaughter to the late Gary, she was surrounded by love early in life, and went on to pass that legacy of love down to her own children, whom she adored beyond words—Shania, Joseph, and Katrina. April thoroughly enjoyed life alongside her devoted husband, Joe, for the 22 years of their union, cultivating a beautiful bond and family during that time. Becoming a grandmother to Amara (and unborn granddaughter, Kaliyah) only served to enrich her sense of vitality and purpose, as she lived up to the role effortlessly.

In the year 1994, April graduated Humble High School, before she went on to pursue a brief college career. Despite life leading her down a different road—away from eduation—she managed to pave a fulfilling path for herself, all the while juggling the responsibility of being a mother and dedicatedly working in Accounting, most recently for ten years with VitalPet/Destination Pet. Her free time was spent furthering herself spiritually, whether lost in meditation or teaching the word of God to others, and immersing herself in moments with the people she loved. Truly, she lived with an intimate passion for family and Christ that was absolute & unwavering.

April exuded endless light, love, and encouragement to those around her; if it was within her power to uplift another person, she took it upon herself to do so. Her own struggles never held her back from diving head-first into helping others; her strength and her nurturing soul empowered those she touched, even during brief interactions. An angel on Earth, she has now spread her wings—freed of hardship and pain—and found her rightful place in Heaven, amongst loved ones and the Holy Father himself. May He wrap her in his boundless love for eternity, as she did for so many people throughout her time in this world.

April was called home to the Lord on July 12th of 2023. She is preceded in death by her stepfather Gary; grandmother Jean; grandfather George and great grandmother Mary. She is survived by her mother, Dorothy, and father, Dale; husband, Joe; her sister, Terra; her children, Shania (Marcus), Joseph (Shaniya), and Katrina (Tom); granddaughters, Amara and Kaliyah; niece, Aryela; grandparents Reba and Carl, and many adoring cousins, aunts, uncles, extended family members, and friends. She will be indescribably missed.

A well-deserved "Celebration of Life" will be held on August 13th at 12:00pm at John Flanagan Banquet Hall. Please, come and join her loved ones in honoring her.
