

She attended Wright Elementary School in Tallulah where she excelled in accelerated classes. In 1967, the Fountain Family moved to Las Vegas for better job opportunities. She attended middle school and later graduated from Las Vegas High School. While attending Las Vegas High School, she was an active dancer with their drill team and appeared on the Bob Bailey television show with the group the Tiny Weenie Heartbreakers. After graduation, she attended Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas.
In September of 1984, she married her soulmate Aubrey Ray Campbell, Sr. who loved and cherished until God called her home. They were married for 40 blessed years. To this union they had four children: Philana, Melonie, Aubrey Jr. and William. The Campbell’s lived in Germany and Kansas before they moved to Houston.
Ava confessed Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at an early age. She later joined Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in 1997 under the leadership of fifth Pastor Rev. F.D. Sampson, Sr. She continued her membership under sixth Pastor F.D. Sampson, Jr. she remained a faithful member until God call her home. She strived to work out her soul salvation and served in many capacities. Ava was blessed with a very giving spirit and poured into everyone she could in whatever capacity was needed. Ava loved God, her pastors, her family and her church.
As a young woman, Ava started her career with the Federal Aviation Administration. She held various positions and served in leadership roles. Ava was not only known for her professional impact, but her ability to connect and touch the lives of others. She was loved by those who she formed special friendships with. She remained a faithful employee and served the federal government diligently until her medical retirement after 24 years of service.
Traveling was also a joy of Ava’s. Her traveling buddy was Carolyn. They went several places in the US and abroad. It is hard to count how many cruises and trips they went on together. We must not forget the trips taken with the grandkids, as well.
Ava joined our Heavenly Father on Sunday, March 30, 2025. Ava is preceded in death by her father William Fountain, Sr., her mother Mary Elizabeth Fountain, her sisters Wally Jones and Delores Webster, her brothers Vernon and Adrian Webster, and her son William Fountain III.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her devoted loving husband Aubrey Campbell Sr., daughter, Philana L. Walton (Omar), Melonie G. Campbell, and Aubrey Campbell, Jr. (Lisa) all of Houston, Texas; grandchildren Darian, Tristan, Avry, Serenity, Lenziah, Nevaeh, An-thony, Alex, Angelina, and Aiden; God-son Jessie Burton III; brothers Ernest Fountain (Pam) and Walter Webster both of Houston, Texas; sisters Patricia Metcalf (Sherman) of San Diego, California; Marcia Washington (David), Debra Scott (Joseph), William Fountain, Jr. (Denise) all of Las Vegas and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends
