Barbara Scott Domino lived a life of grace and cheer with the full heart of one who loved without condition. She was born on August 8, 1950 in Houston to Eileen and Sir Walter (Waldo) Scott Jr. and passed away peacefully on March 21, 2022.
Barbara grew up in the Heights and was raised at Emmanuel Baptist Church. She graduated from Reagan High School, where she was Corporal of the Reagan Red Coats drill team, served as Senior Class Secretary, and voted Most Beautiful. Upon graduating in 1969, she began working at Humble Oil, which eventually became ExxonMobil. She worked in the Card Department as a Customer Service Correspondent for the majority of her 37-year tenure, before retiring in 2006. Throughout her life, Barbara delighted in telling others about her loyal tenure!
Barbara married Jerry Domino on October 2, 1971, and they began a family together. Barbara was a kind, loving mother and a devoted wife who modeled how to care for others through her volunteer efforts at both work and church. She remained a faithful Christian her entire life, loved Jesus with her whole heart, and nothing brought her more joy than serving as a children’s Sunday School teacher throughout the years at Gatewood, NorthPark and Faith Family Baptist Church. She carried a friendly exuberance wherever she went. Barbara always looked to start up a conversation, give a hug and bring someone her banana pudding.
Barbara was diagnosed with a form of early onset Alzheimer’s, from which she suffered courageously for the past 16 years. She will be remembered for facing this adversity with a sweetness of spirit that exemplified her entire life and inspired those who love her so dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Waldo and Eileen Scott, and her identical twin sister, Brenda Caswell. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Jerry; daughter, Kelly and her husband, Kyle; son, Terry and his wife, Sarah; and son, Tyler and his husband, Dennis. She is also survived by her sister, Yvonne Burchfield, and brother, Bryan Scott; grandchildren, Eileen and Evan, Micah and Caleb, and Lincoln; along with numerous beloved in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends.
