

She graduated from both Bellaire Sr. High School and the University of Houston. Barbara had been employed by Neiman Marcus as Cosmetic Manager and Buyer, and later went on to manage Carolle Stupell, LTD. She returned to Neiman's as Executive Assistant to Mr. Marcus then pursued her career as a teacher. Barbara went on to become Marketing and Distributive Education Teacher and Coordinator for both Scarborough and Waltrip Sr. High Schools.
Oma had a great zest for life, food, family, fashion, and especially her five grandchildren. She was the life of every gathering and party, never missing the chance for a humorous, correct, and thought provoking comment or comeback.
She is survived by her children, Larry E. Keller and wife Paula, Lois Keller-Nelson, and Porter D. Keller and wife, Christy; grandchildren, Bradley and Kelsey Keller, and Addison, Porter D., and Ruby Keller; mother, Ruby Jatzlau Behrend; brother, Ricky Ray Behrend, niece and nephew Kyle Behrend and wife Sarah, and Lainey Behrend; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and many loving friends. She will also be missed by her beloved dogs, Katie Sue and Maggie Mae.
Oma's family will receive friends from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on April 20, 2011 at the Bradshaw-Carter Home, 1734 West Alabama. Oma's funeral service will be held at 9:00 AM Thursday, April 21, 2011 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 5315 Main Street with Rev. Mark Wiesenborn, officiating. Committal service and interment will follow in Washington Cemetery.
Oma's family would like to give special thanks to all the doctors, nurses, and volunteers at Houston Hospice for their wonderful care, support, and understanding.
In lieu of the usual remembrances, Oma's family would like to request that memorials be made to St. Matthew Lutheran Church or Houston Hospice.
