

Barry Douglas Walker was born in Houston, Texas, on June 20, 1954 to the union of Nathaniel and Johnnie B. Walker. He departed this life on Friday, June 21, 2024. He joined the military right after graduating from Smiley High school.
Barry Walker worked at Avis Budget group for 30 years until he had to retire due to a disability. He accepted Christ at an early age. Barry was a hard-working man, lovable, kind, and always willing to help others he never minded sharing the Lord’s word.
He was a member at Sweet Home Church, Pastor Collins. Barry was called to the ministry while a member at New Mount Calvary Baptist Church, Willie Jones, pastor. Barry was also a member of New Direction Humble Church, Jim Johns, pastor. He later United with Greater True Light M.B.C., O. T. Berry, pastor, where he remained unto his death.
He married Queenie Skinner on May 14, 1983, and in this marriage were united, one child, Krystle Walker Rucker and one stepdaughter, Michelle Rector, and one stepson, James Rector lll. He is preceded in death by his parents, Nathaniel and Johnnie B. Walker; one sister, Amelia Reese; one brother-in-law, Kelvin Banks; one stepdaughter, Michelle Rector; two stepsons, James Rector lll and Willie Richardson.
He leaves to mourn his wife Della; daughter, Krystle Walker Rucker; stepson, Jerald Powell Sr.; two sisters, Rhonda Banks and Rossaland Ward; three Brothers, Lloyd Walker (Sharon), Michael Walker (Debra) Nathan Walker (Karen); stepmother, Sally Walker, three step- daughters, Rosilyn Hill (Andre), Vanessa, Kelly, and Natalie Wood, One stepson, Jeffrey Kelly; eight grandkids and a host of brother-in-laws, sisters-in-laws,nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
