Basim Masad Baba, a beloved father, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away at his home in Houston, Texas, on August 1, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on June 30, 1947, in Ramallah, Palestine, Basim carried with him the strength, pride, and resilience of his homeland throughout his life.
He is survived by his devoted sons, Jawad and Jihad Baba, who were his greatest joy and the source of his deepest pride. He also leaves behind his loving brothers, Saman Baba (wife Shahnaz) and Akram Baba (wife Violet), and his sisters, Najwa Ayoub and Basma Zabak. Basim also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews, all of whom he cherished deeply.
Basim’s name, fittingly, means “to smile,” and he truly lived up to it. Those who knew him will always remember his warm smile — one that welcomed, comforted, and conveyed love and understanding. He was a man of deep insight. His kindness was steady, his love unconditional, and his heart open to all.
Though he lived a life away from the land of his birth, Basim remained deeply connected to his Palestinian roots, values, and traditions. He passed along this heritage to his children and family, not only through stories and culture, but through compassion and strength.
Basim’s absence leaves a deep void in our hearts, but his memory will continue to bring light and love to those who knew him. He will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.
Basim Masad Baba reposed in the Lord Friday 8/1. May GOD grant much comfort to all his family.
