

Benjamin Clifford Thorseth passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2011 at the age of 21. He was born on February 7, 1990 to his parents, Jay and Lisa Thorseth, in Westminster, Colorado. He was their second of four children, and his siblings were William, Peter and Margaret. After four years in the Denver area, his family moved to Richmond, Texas, where they lived the next five years. He was active in sports such as baseball, soccer and basketball, and he spent countless hours in the neighborhood of Pecan Grove playing outside with his brother, Will, and their friends. Peter was born in 1996, and shortly thereafter, the family moved to Cairo, Egypt where Ben went to school through the seventh grade. Ben very much enjoyed living overseas, meeting new friends, playing many sports, and traveling to places around the globe. The highlight of the stay in Egypt came when Ben gained his little sister, Megan, in 2000. Ben’s passion for golf took hold after he moved back to Richmond, Texas in 2003. He quickly became one of the best golfers in the Houston area and worked his way to a national ranking. Ben went to Holy Rosary Catholic School in Rosenberg before attending Strake Jesuit College Preparatory where he graduated in 2008. Ben was very active and outgoing, and loved to be with his friends enjoying their company and sharing laughs. Through golf and Strake Jesuit, Ben met hundreds of great people and formed long-lasting friendships. He was very devoted and loyal to his network of friends. Following high school, Ben went to Rice University on a golf scholarship where he studied Economics. Ben’s parents, siblings, grandparents, uncles, aunt, and cousin all dearly loved him. There are many cherished memories of times at family reunions, and Arkansas and California visits. Ben is survived by his Father, Jay, Mother, Lisa, brothers, Will and Peter, and sister, Megan. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00pm Thursday August 25, 2011 with a Rosary at 7:00pm in the Memorial Oaks Funeral Home Chapel, 13001 Katy Freeway Houston, Texas 77079. Funeral services will be held on Friday August 26, 2011 at 10:00AM in the St. Theresa Catholic Church, 115 7th St. Sugar Land, Texas 77478. Interment will follow at 2:30PM at Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
