

Bernice O’Neil passed away Tuesday, June 22, after a long and rich life. A native of Phoenix, Arizona she married Dalton S. O’Neil (deceased), a career Army Master Sergeant. Following World War II, she joined her husband as part of a military staff that aided in the reconstruction of Germany. After returning to the United Sates, Bernice began a 32 year career in civil service with the Department of the Army, until she retired as a systems analyst in Tacoma, WA. She was a lifetime member of the Gold Star Wives of America. Bernice has been a Houston resident since 1996. She died peacefully in her sleep surrounded by her loving family. Bernice is survived by her two sons, Michael and Patrick, and her daughters-in-law, Peggy and Joyce. She had four grandchildren, Kirsten, Jason, Amy, and Patrick Jr. and a great granddaughter, Abby. Her family extends their deepest gratitude to the devoted staff of Emeritus at Champion Oaks Assisted Living where Bernice has resided for the past two years and always received extraordinarily kind and compassionate care. A memorial service will be held at the Champion Oaks facility, 17705 Red Oak Drive, Houston, Texas 77090 on Saturday, June 26 at 1:30 pm.
