

Bertha Alicia Guerra went to be with the Lord on September 11, 2016 in Houston, Texas at the age of 58. She is survived by her loving family which included her husband, Jorge Guerra; her daughters, Crystal Lazcano, Bertha Lois Lazcano, and Mariana Guerra; her son, Jorge Lauro Guerra; her grandchildren, Jaydah Mora and Benjamin Duplechin; her father, Ruben Rodriguez Sr.; her sisters and their spouses, Graciela (Alberto) Chavez, Sylvia (J. Cruz) Rivera; her brothers and their spouses, Ruben Jr. (Elizabeth) Rodriguez, Ricardo (Irma) Rodriguez, Robert Arnulfo Rodriguez, Rolando (Yolanda) Rodriguez; and several nieces, nephews and godchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother Bertha Yolanda Rodriguez and her sister Rosa Maria Rodriguez.
In her childhood, Bertha was active and participated in several sports at the YMCA. In her adulthood, she was an entrepreneur, a restaurant owner, rental property owner, a truck driver, and a travel agent. As the eldest of eight children, she was the backbone and foundation of her family. Bertha worked to the fullest to give her children everything possible. She enjoyed traveling and spending quality time with her family.
Bertha was an excellent dancer and loved music so much that she would dance even when a song came on for a thirty second commercial. She was also passionate about cooking for her family and everyone loved her restaurant (or five star) quality dishes.
Bertha touched the hearts and lives of many people. Her memories will forever live in our hearts. Her last words were “we had fun, right,” and that’s how she live her life. Each day was lived to the fullest.
A memorial service will be held at Brookside Champions Funeral Home at 3410 FM 1960 Rd W. Houston, Texas 77068 on Thursday, September 15, 2016. Visitation will start from 5pm to 8pm. Rosary to begin at 7pm. We will be having mass at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church at 4918 Cochran St. Houston, Texas 77009 at 1pm.
Serving in honor as Pallbearers are Jorge Lauro Guerra, Wilford Duplechin, Robert Rodriguez Jr., Rolando Rodriguez Jr., Ruben Rodriguez III., Adrian Rivera, Rafael Chavez, and Enrique Chavez.
