

Betty Marie Brock passed away peacefully on February 4, 2024, at the age of 95 in Houston, Texas. She was born on January 9, 1929, in Fort Worth, Texas. Betty was a kind and friendly soul who was loved by everyone she met. She was a devoted daughter, wife, sister, aunt, and a bonus grandma to her great nieces and nephews.
Betty worked her entire career as a switchboard operator and then receptionist at Gulf Printing. She was known for her professionalism and dedication to her work. Outside of her career, Betty had a passion for traveling and had visited all 50 states with her husband, Wayne. She also enjoyed going on several cruises. Betty was a dedicated fan of the Houston Astros, especially her favorite player, Jose Altuve. She never missed a game and cherished the team's dynasty years. For years, she gathered with her close friends from church for a weekly card game. Betty dedicated many years of her life to volunteering at Northwest Memorial Hospital.
A woman of faith, Betty was a longtime member of Garden Oaks Baptist Church, where she served faithfully in her Sunday School class and in the nursery and children's departments. When she could no longer attend, she joined Houston's First Baptist Church and attended services at the Forum. No matter where she lived, her Bible and study materials were visible and she had her coffee and quiet time each morning.
Betty is survived by her sister, Mitzi Hester, several nieces and nephews, many great nieces and nephews, and many more great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Mitchell Tutor, her mother, Velma Rubush Tutor, her husband, Wayne Brock, her sister, Frances Powell, and her brother, Sonny Tutor.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the staff at West Janisch Healthcare Center for making her last few months comfortable. They would also like to thank the staff and residents of the Forum for making the last years of her life fun and fulfilling. They became like family to her.
Funeral services for Betty will be held on February 13, 2024, at 5:00 pm at Pat H. Foley Funeral Home located at 1200 34th Street, Houston, Texas.
