Betty Laureame Cooper Ellis , age 75, of Spring, TX, passed away on October 22, 2022. Born in Denton, TX, on June 18, 1947 to parents Ollie Pearl and Reginald Cooper, she moved to Houston as a young child and graduated from Sam Houston High School, where she was a majorette and played the clarinet in the band. Until her first child was born, she attended the University of Houston as a math major. She and Harold began the relationship of a lifetime as teenagers at Linder Lake Swimming Pool, in Houston, where they both worked - Harold as a lifeguard and Betty as a cashier. They married on January 29, 1966, and shared 56 years of love and family.
Betty loved the Lord with all her heart, and she and Harold were members of Spring Baptist Church - Klein Campus. Betty’s passion for children led her to become a teacher’s aide. She helped children with learning differences and spent her entire career at Roth Elementary School, ultimately retiring from Klein ISD. Throughout her life, she spent summers camping in their trailer, traveling with her family all around America to state and national parks. South Llano River State Park, Niagara Falls, and Yellowstone were her favorites. Betty was devoted to her family and friends, and she will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her husband Harold; her four children: Laura Stein (Darrell), Suzanne Bazemore (Scott), Clint Ellis (Nicole), and Grant Ellis; her 12 grandchildren: Madeleine and Scott Bazemore; Anlly, Chelsea, Luke, Jonathan, Katie, and Elizabeth Stein; Lillian, Jack, Samuel, and Annabelle Ellis; and many treasured relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her devoted mother, Ollie Pearl Cooper, with whom she is now resting in the arms of Jesus.
