Betty Rawson Stockton passed away on June 22, 2025, after a two-year battle with cancer. Betty was born Martha Elizabeth Rawson on June 7, 1940, to Lois and Jack Rawson in Victoria, Texas. Betty is survived by her husband, Steve Stockton, of 42 years; her stepdaughters, Shelby Louise and Lesley Marie Stockton; her sister, Kathy Pulis; her brother-in-law, Mike Pulis; and her beloved cat, Sir Lancelot.
She went to West University Elementary, Pershing Junior High, and graduated from Bellaire High School. She had fond memories of the Bellaire Bells drill team and played the drum. After high school, Betty went to work at Tenneco, where she spent over 30 years. She retired from Copano Energy in 2009.
After retiring, she enjoyed traveling, cruising, reading mystery novels, and watching medical and legal drama TV shows. Most of all, Betty loved all her lifelong friends, dining out (mostly Tex-Mex), her cat, and shopping. Betty didn’t always buy something, but she loved to look, especially for bargains. She enjoyed a mani-pedi and deciding what color she would try this time. She had a smartwatch and many watch bands. Each morning, she had a ritual of matching watch bands to what she planned to wear that day. Her sister, Kathy, would help her put together outfits to take on a cruise weeks before setting sail. She would then fine-tune, change, remove, and add various clothing items over the course of weeks.
She was a bright light and a caring, dedicated soul to all who are fortunate enough to call Betty a friend. Betty is remembered for her wonderful smile, outgoing personality, and loving nature. Those who knew her best would agree that Betty was, above all, unique and one of a kind.
In lieu of flowers, Betty would thoroughly approve of donations to your local no-kill animal shelter or cancer support group.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home, located at 12800 Westheimer Road, Houston, TX 77077, United States. The service is scheduled for July 24, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
