

Mrs. Betty Yarberry passed away peacefully at her home on October 5, 2011. Betty and her twin brother, Bob, were born in Wichita, Kansas on December 21, 1922. Their parents, Scott and Mary Baublits, raised Betty and Bob in Ada, Oklahoma where Scott was the Manager of J. C. Penny’s.
Betty attended the University of Oklahoma where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education in 1944 and was a proud member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority. After college she became a stewardess with American Airlines which she truly loved and often recalled many great stories from her experience flying.
Betty married Hurley Houston Yarberry, Jr. on August 24, 1946 in Ada, Oklahoma.
An adored wife, mother and grandmother, Betty was known for her warm smile, laughter and great personality. She loved playing bridge with her various bridge clubs, hosting and attending parties, traveling, and always had a good story to tell. She considered her life to be “rich” with the many wonderful friends she knew.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Scott and Mary Baublits and her half-brother, Harold Allen.
Betty is survived by her husband, Hurley H. Yarberry, Jr., daughters Linda Yarberry Vogt and husband Jim, Diane Yarberry Wilhite and husband John, and son Scott H. Yarberry and wife Martha, as well as grandchildren Mark Vogt, Katherine Vogt, Aric Yarberry, and Neal Yarberry. She is also survived by her twin brother, Bob Baublits.
There will be a visitation for family and friends at 5:00 to 7:00 PM on October 9, 2011 at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home & Cemetery, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX 77079. The graveside service will be held on October 10, 2011 at 10:00 AM at Memorial Oaks Cemetery. The memorial service for Betty will be held at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church, 717 Sage Road, Houston, TX 77056 at 2:00 PM on October 10, 2011. In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions in Betty’s name may be directed to St. Martin’s Episcopal Church or a charity of your choice.
