

Beverly Husky Hamby passed away into the loving arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday night February 28, 2014. Born June 11, 1926 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, she was the only daughter of Bessie Wilson Husky and Orbin Lee Husky. Preceeded in death by her parents, husband JP Hamby and son Jay Pierson Hamby. Survived by daughter and son-in-law Jenise and Bill Caudle, son Jaral Hamby and grandsons Jonathan Caudle and Nicholas Hamby. Beverly led a spirit filled Christian life. Maintaining an up-beat and positive attitude throughout her life, even after losing the love of her life, her husband of 60 years JP. Beverly graduated from Will Rogers High School close to the top of her class. She worked as a secretary after graduating from high school, and throughout her working career. She was working for Stanlin Oil and Gas and transferred with this company when the family was transferred to Houston in 1955. She worked for Golman and Rolfe Architects, but most of her career as executive secretary to the President of Continental Emsco. She was a member of The National Secretaries Association International, now known as Administrative Professionials International Association. She served on the International Board as Secretary, Vice President and President of the organization in the 70's. During the 70's and 80's she served on the Institute For Certifing Secretaries helping to create the exams. She was one of few that passed her exam first time earning PSI certification.
After her husband retired, they loved traveling the world, seeing 6 of the 7 continents. She was a voracious reader her whole life, and keeping her mind sharp until the end by working crossword and soduko puzzles, double ledger bookeeping and calculations manually. She was a member of four bridge clubs, Gain Investment Club serving as treasurer for 16 years until her death. Other groups she was a member of during this time were a Shuta Club, and a dinner group that has members from Bridgebuilders Sunday School Class at Memorial Drive United Methodist Church. She has been an active member of that church since 1968. Beverly's family extends their graditude to Elizabeth Barry, who was her housemate and helped care for her during her final months with love and devotion. Visitation is Friday, March 7, 2014 from 6 to 8 PM at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home and the celebration of her life will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday March 8, 2014 at Memorial Drive United Methodist Church, 12955 Memorial Drive. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Senior High Mission Trips, Youth Department Memorial Drive United Methodist Church, 12955 Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77079.
