She was born to Vera (Heller) Berger and Emil Berger on March 14, 1929, in Weimer, Texas. Billie lived in the Houston Heights area, attending All Saints Grammar School before moving to Ammannsville, TX., and graduating from La Grange High School. She attended St. Joseph’s School of Nursing and graduated from Sacred Heart Dominican College with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She was an outstanding nurse because her priority in life was caring for the well-being of others, regardless of whether they were a total stranger or one of her own family.
Billie met and married her loving husband, Frank J. Hoffmann, on May 31, 1952, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Houston. It was rare to ever see them apart, as they shared 61 beautiful years of marriage. Throughout her life, she was a devout Catholic and was an active parishioner of St. John Vianney Catholic Church for over 50 years. Billie was a caring, devoted wife who loved to travel the world with Frank and experienced many new and exciting adventures. She was a dedicated and nurturing mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who loved spending time with all of them and knew how to make each feel special and loved. Billie loved the culinary arts and was an excellent chef. She actually knew what healthy eating was before it became a thing. Billie shared what she cooked with everyone, and it was impossible to have left her home hungry. She was a hugger and, lived life to its fullest and brought joy to all she met. She lived her motto throughout her life: "Go, Go, Go, ‘til you can’t Go anymore.”
Billie is survived by her children Dr. Frank J. Hoffmann III (Patti) of Lake Jackson, William E. Hoffmann (Carol) of Sugarland, Christopher J. Hoffmann (Lela) of Alvin, Thomas P. Hoffmann (Laurie) of Cherry Hills Village, CO, and daughter Therese H. Hurford (Dr. Michael) of Louisville KY. In addition, grandchildren: Dr. Michael Hoffmann, David Hoffmann (Hailey), Natalie Zilch (Josh), Katherine Torres (Earnest), Joshua Hoffmann (Erica), Sarah Kinsel (Brett), Mary Mosley (Blake), Laura Hoffmann, Matthew Hoffmann, John Hoffmann, Tommy Hoffmann, Elizabeth Hoffmann, Nolan Hurford, and 13 great-grandchildren.
