Billy Cardwell was born in Houston, Texas, and grew up in The Heights, now known as Houston Heights. He passed away peacefully in the ICU at Methodist Hospital on the morning of April 15, surrounded by his loved ones.
Billy was a devoted husband, father, and brother. A proud patriot, he deeply honored the men and women of our military. He was an active member of Rolling Thunder, a motorcycle patriot group dedicated to honoring those who have fallen and those currently serving our country. He was also a proud member of the Texas Patriot Guard.
Billy found joy in life’s simple and meaningful moments. He especially loved participating in the annual Houston Renaissance Festival alongside his wife, Cathy, and his son, Doug. He had a gift for storytelling and a love for sharing life with others, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met.
He will be deeply missed, but we find comfort in knowing that God has a greater plan, and Billy is now fulfilling his place with our Lord and Savior.
Billy is survived by his loving wife of more than 50 years, Cathy Cardwell; his son, Doug Cardwell; his brother, Kenny Cardwell; his sister-in-law, Mary Cardwell; and his brother-in-law, Danny McGriff.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Alta Cardwell; his son, Shane Cardwell; and his brother, Gerald Cardwell.
