Billy Carl Cooke, 83, of Huffman, TX, passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2025. He was born in Tulsa, OK., on April 20th, 1941 to Fred and Sallie Cooke. Billy graduated from Sam Houston High School in 1958. He was a machinist by trade and retired in 2003. He enjoyed attending AA meetings and serving as a sponsor to many. Billy was 39 years sober.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Sallie Cooke, his sister Linda Carol Randolph, his brothers Johnny Cooke and Joe Cooke, and his first wife Ruthie Cooke.
Billy is survived by his wife of 23 years Oksana Cooke of Huffman, TX., sons Billy Cooke and wife Vicky Cooke of Wimberly, TX. and Johnny Cooke of Nacogdoches, TX., daughters Teresa Bowers of Fort Worth, TX., Sonya Ramsey of Huffman, TX., stepdaughter Lesya Von Heeder and husband Derek Von Heeder of Huffman, TX., ten grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Billy loved his Corvette, motorcycle, and 6-pack abs. He enjoyed going on long rides to show them off. He had a passion for being a police officer but was an inch too short to apply. For those that knew him well, know that was one thing he never let go. He enjoyed reminding all the loved ones around him how great he was. And we will miss those reminders. One of his favorite holidays was Thanksgiving, and he took his cooking very seriously, including giblets and gravy. His specialty was chocolate fudge with pecans but reserved for his kids only. Above all, he carried his sister’s memory and ensured that justice continued to be served. Our entire family will miss the lectures, lessons, and conversations. But we rejoice in knowing that he is with our Lord. Billy’s faith was strong, and we know we will see each other one day again.
A visitation for Billy will be held Tuesday, February 25, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039. A funeral service is scheduled to follow and begin promptly at 1:00 PM in Brookside's Family Chapel. Burial will follow in Brookside Memorial Park.
Serving as pallbearers will be Michael White, Chance Cooke, Jeremiah Cooke, Clint Ramsey, Edgardo Reyes, and Matt Ramsey.
