Bobbye Sue Cox was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She left this world on August 24, 2022, at age 84. She is survived by her husband Bob, her sisters Jessie and Hazel, her son Billy & wife Colette, her son Robert & wife Kristin, her son Chris & wife Monika, and her seven grandchildren, Billy, Cooper, Keller and Cade, her princess Haley, CJ and Brandon. She was preceded in death by her brothers Howard, Will, Odell & Buck.
She was born in Buffalo, Texas on August 2, 1938. She spent her childhood years in Abbott, Texas, where she met her husband, William Robert “Bob” Cox. Together, they had 3 boys: Billy, Robert, and Chris.
She dedicated her life to raising the boys and taking care of Bob.
Bobbye Sue loved spending time in the kitchen, cooking for her family. She was known for her homemade pimento and cheese, her seasoned oyster crackers, her potato salad, her iced tea, chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes and green beans, along with many other home cooked meals. She didn’t cook regular meals, she cooked feast to feed all the friends who were coming over to play ball on the driveway. The boys’ friends and the neighbors knew they were always welcome at her table.
Bobbye Sue never met a stranger and befriended everyone. She was an icon at Foley’s Northwest Mall and Macy’s Downtown, where she retired after a career in HR. When the boys were in school, she only worked from 9-2 so she could be home when the boys arrived. She was even an icon with the Metro bus drivers. She was known by name at Chico’s Town & Country and Randall’s on 290.
These folks didn’t just know her name, they were known, loved, and taken care of by her. She had a gift for all occasions, making use of her lifetime 25% discount at Macy’s: her way of always saving Bob money!
On August 30th, she would have celebrated her 64th anniversary with the love of her life Bob. She certainly loved him but was also easily irritated by him…if you know you know!
Doting over her grandkids was her other fulltime job. Macy’s lost out for sure on the 25% discounts she used on this crew.
Special thanks to the love of her life, Bob, for the devoted care he has given her during these last few years. Also, to Maria, her neighbor and to Francis, her friend for their endless help and love.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She will forever be in our hearts.
