

Surrounded by loving family, Bodine (Bo) Travis Schwerin passed away peacefully on Monday, December 22, 2014 at MD Anderson Cancer Center after his courageous battle with leukemia. He was a resident of Houston, TX. Beloved husband of sixteen years of Christine Tai Schwerin; adoring father and inspiration of Albert (Albee) Tai Schwerin. Further survived by parents, John and Joanne Schwerin; sister, Emily Dawn Schwerin and other dear relatives.
Bo was born on June 15, 1977 in Miami, FL. He graduated from Gulliver Preparatory School in 1995. Following high school, he attended Johns Hopkins University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Writing. He continued his education and received a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Maryland College Park. He worked as Managing Editor for University of Pittsburgh before becoming Editor in Chief for NASA Spinoff publication. Separately, he published Baby Knauer, his fictional short story, in Ninth Letter. The story was also nominated in Best New American Voices. In 2012, he began his pursuit of law education at the University of Houston Law Center. He was briefly Editor in Chief for Board 52, Houston Law Review. He received several law school awards and scholarships. He enjoyed playing soccer and was a big fan of the Manchester City Football Club. In his spare time, he loved traveling and writing. He was a lifetime enthusiast of Bruce Springsteen songs. Bo was revered for his integrity and sincerity, quiet intelligence, and most of all, his humble heart by those who knew him.
Funeral service will be held at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX on Friday, January 2, 2015 at 10:00am, with viewing one hour prior to service. Bo’s family will be there to greet relatives and friends.
