

Bran’Don DeShon Brooks-Smith passed away to be with the Lord on October 31, 2019, at the age of 31. He was born in Houston, Texas to Nathan Smith and Sarah Bell and raised by his loving and caring grandmother, Mother Connie Faye McCarty (Gram).
He graduated from Nitmz High School as a ROTC student and served as the Vice President of Class 2006. He enlisted and served in the United States Army where he received numerous awards and metals before receiving an honorable discharge. He pursued his education and received a Bachelor of Science Education from the University of Houston. He continued his education at the University of Phoenix, where he received his Master’s in Healthcare Administration.
Bran’Don was well known for his passion in raising funds for educational programs and patient services that is offered to millions of Americans battling with kidney and liver diseases. He hosted multiple fundraisers in an effort to bring awareness and hope to those who struggle with the life-changing illness.
Bran’Don accepted Christ at a young age under the leadership of his uncle, Bishop Destry C. Bell, Sr., Texas Gulf Coast Jurisdictional Prelate, Senior Pastor and founder of Christ Temple The People’s Church Of God In Christ, Missouri City, Texas. He later joined Williams Temple Church Of God In Christ, Houston, Texas under the leadership of Bishop Charles Brown. In the more recent years, Pastor Craig I. Carter became his pastor where he served faithfully in multiple capacities within the dynamics of the church. He served as Co-Sunday School Superintendent Youth Division and Co-Sunday School Teacher Young Adult Class. Most recently, he served as the chairperson of the 100 Year Church Anniversary Souvenir Book Committee and Graphic Designer.
Bran’Don also served as the Sunday School Secretary and Coordinator in Texas Greater Southeast First Jurisdiction, Bishop Johnny Tates, Jurisdictional Prelate. He served on the Church Of God In Christ National Marketing Committee and as a trustee for the International Sunday School Department. He continued his dedication and loyalty for in the work of the Lord until his final days on earth.
By the grace of God, Bran’Don DeShon Brooks-Smith conquered many challenges throughout his life. His favorite songs were, “Hang on in There” and “Great Is Thy Mercy”. Throughout his life, Bran’Don DeShon Brooks-Smith has inspired the young as well as the senior generations. All that loved and knew him will greatly miss him.
He is proceeded in death by his grandfathers, Rev. David Gene Bell, Donald Ray Smith, grandmother, Bernice Jean Smith. He leaves to mourn a wonderful and caring family, father, Nathan Earl Smith (Elaine), mother, Sarah Bell, stepfather, Donald Brooks, Sr., brother, Donald Brooks, Jr. (Germany), sister, Janea Smith, grandmother, Connie Faye McCarty, stepmother, Wilhelminia Hausey Bell, god-mother, Judy Faye Owens, god-sisters, Shanda Nakia Walker and Tesha La’Sha Owens and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
