Brenda was born on December 3, 1942, in Saint Ann’s, Jamaica, to Lawford Codner and Gladys Harris. On June 4, 1977, she married Frederick Jones, with whom she shared 47 wonderful years of love and partnership before his passing on January 18, 2025.
A Registered Nurse by profession, Brenda trained at Charing Cross Hospital School of Nursing in London, England, graduating on April 4, 1966. She later moved to New York in 1969, where she continued her nursing career, and later worked with Kimberly Quality Care in Houston, Texas.
Throughout her distinguished career, Brenda was recognized with numerous awards honoring her dedication, compassion, and excellence in patient care. Nursing was not merely her profession—it was her calling. She poured her heart into every life she touched.
To her family, Brenda was the heart and foundation—a loving, generous, and spirited woman who embraced every role in her life with grace and strength. As a devoted daughter, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and matriarch, she nurtured her family with wisdom, warmth, and unwavering support.
Her faith and community service were central to her life. As a devoted member of Christ the King Church, Brenda gave freely of her time, energy, and love in service to others. She also had a deep affection for animals, often caring for lost dogs and offering them the same tenderness she gave to everyone around her.
A passionate gardener, Brenda cultivated beauty wherever she went—reminding all who knew her of the power of patience, care, and growth. Her love, guidance, and selflessness touched countless lives. Her legacy of compassion, service, and love will live on forever in the hearts of all who knew her.
