Dr. Brian Charles Kilgore was born on the 22nd of May 1953, in Houston, to Billy and Alice Kilgore, the second of three children alongside his older sister Becky and younger brother Duane. He grew up in Houston, graduated from Memorial High School, and went on to Baylor University where he was a standout wingback and member of the 1974 Southwest Conference Championship team.
He followed his father into dentistry, taking over his practice in Houston, though to hear him tell it, going to work was just another chance to spend the day with friends.
It was also at Baylor where he met Laura Lea Meredith, the love of his life. They were soulmates and best friends, rarely apart. Together they built a beautiful family, traveled, shared a lifetime of remarkable moments, and cared for one another deeply. This past December they celebrated fifty years of marriage.
He was an accomplished golfer and fisherman, a hunter, a guitarist, a pianist, a prankster, a storyteller, and one of the most loyal friends you could ever have. He loved every one of these pursuits and cherished even more the friends he shared them with.
Brian loved deeply and lived fully. He chased redfish on the Texas coast and salmon in Alaska. He filled rooms with music. He made his grandchildren believe in magic. He showed up for the people he loved, and he did it with a joy that never seemed to run dry.
His faith was quiet and steady, and it showed not in words but in how he treated people, with kindness and humor that left everyone around him a little better off. A lifelong friend said it best: he was the happiest person I've ever known, all the time.
Brian is preceded in death and welcomed to Heaven by his son, Blake Thomas Kilgore.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Laura Lea; sons, Brent and wife Julie; Jeffrey and wife Carli; grandchildren, Hayes and Hadley; Russell and wife Sarah; grandchildren Wade and Alice.
He is also survived by his sister, Becky Coogan and husband Jamie; brother, Duane and wife Barbie; nieces, Allison Michaels, Kelly Ramirez, and Katherine Pitzinger; and nephew, Shane Coogan.
All will miss Brian's ever-positive attitude, smile, laughter and immense love.
The Kilgore family is grateful for all of the love and prayers.
