Glen Eyrie Camille Stringer Bloom, better known as "Camille" to friends and "Gran" to her grandson, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday, the 20th of January 2022. Camille had just turned 88 years old a month before.
Camille's smile lit up a room, and her enthusiasm and unconditional love were boundless. She loved celebrating friends' and family's accomplishments big and small and remembered birthdays with a handwritten card.
Camille was born in El Paso, Texas. She spent the first and last parts of her life in Texas. In between, she lived on the East Coast, in Washington, D.C., New York, Connecticut and New Jersey. She graduated from The Kincaid School and Vassar College and received her Master's Degree from Bank Street College in New York City. She loved teaching pre-K and elementary school. Camille was a devout Christian Scientist and loved her Seventh Church of Christ, Scientist family. She served on the Board, taught Sunday School and volunteered in the Reading Room. Camille was an animal lover and avid tennis fan. She had Astros season tickets for many years. Camille attended every game she could in every sport her children played growing up and as adults. She found a special joy attending her grandson's basketball, flag football and baseball games. Camille loved going to plays and museums, traveling, reading, playing bridge, writing and spending time with family and friends.
Camille is survived by her husband and life partner, Donald L. Bloom; her children, Donald L. Bloom Jr. and Jennifer E. Bloom; her grandson, Bryce J. Bloom-Timmins; her sister, Cynthia C. Black; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Her parents, Henry D. Stringer and Glen Eyrie Boyd, and her brother, Henry D. Stringer, Jr., precede her in death.
