

Carl Adrian Stephenson was born in Center, TX on November 18, 1920 & passed away in Houston, TX on October 4, 2016 at the age of 95. He was the 8th out of 14 children-7 brothers & 7 sisters. Carl is survived by his wife Patty Raley Baker Stephenson. Carl also has 3 sisters surviving, one of whom is 100 years old, & by numerous nieces & nephews, all of whom adored “Uncle Carl.”
Carl was in the Army Air Corps during World War 2. His unit would retrieve planes that had been shot down & repair them. After World War 2 Carl worked for AT&T for over 35 years.
Carl & Patty had known each other since the 1950s. They & their late spouses had been in the Adelphi Class at First United Methodist Church in Houston, TX. They didn't run with the same group of people, but they always visited at Sunday school. Carl lost his first wife to cancer after about 20 years. Carl remarried & had 3 step-children, but he lost his second wife to a stroke after about 40 years. Patty lost her husband in 1991 after 40 years.
In 2012 & 2013 Carl & Patty attended Adelphi Class parties at a class member’s lovely home on Lake Livingston. After attending those parties together, spending a few holiday meals together, & dating for several months, Carl asked Patty to marry him. They married May 18, 2013. Patty moved to Clarewood House, where Carl had been living for several years. They had a happy marriage for the past 3 1/2 years. They laughed & had a lot of fun together. They also enjoyed attending First United Methodist Church & the Adelphi Class together.
