

CARLTON EDWARD CURRY, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend passed away on the 4th of October 2010 at the age of 79. He is preceded in death by his parents, the late Edward J. Curry and Thelma Curry; and by his brother, Gilbert, who died at the early age of 13.
He is survived by Marjorie Carroll Curry, his loving and devoted wife of 55 years; three children: Randy Curry and wife Rachel, Karen Bunch and husband Bill, Patricia Britt and husband Ed; nine grandchildren: Roxanne Bradford and husband Brian, Riley Curry, Reid Curry, Stephanie George, Kelli Bunch, Ashley Russell and husband Jeff, McKenzie Britt, Maddison Britt and Tucker Britt; and three great-grandchildren: Jackie George, Avery Bradford and Cameron Bradford.
Carlton was proud of his Lebanese-American heritage and grew up in Houston’s north side until moving to West University. He graduated from Lamar High School in 1949, attended Rice Institute for a year before going into the Navy for four years. He started dating the love of his life, while attending the University of Houston where he graduated with a degree in Geology. He started working offshore for Macogbar as a mud engineer in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He and his family returned to Houston in 1963. While still working for Macogbar, he attended the South Texas College of Law, passed the bar and practiced law until his death. He was a member of the Houston Bar Association and the Texas State Bar.
Carlton loved watching sports, working in his garden, and playing golf and gin with his buddies at Herman Park. Most of all, he cherished times spent with his loving family.
Friends are cordially invited to gather with the family and celebrate Carlton’s life from five o’clock in the afternoon until eight o’clock in the evening on Thursday, the 7th of October, in the Grand Foyer of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.
In accordance with Carlton’s wishes, there is to be a private memorial service for the immediate family at a later date.
