Carmen Irizarry

Carmen Iris Irizarry, 80, of Odessa, Florida passed away in her home in Houston, Texas on October 28, 2022. She was born on June 27, 1942 in Morovis, Puerto Rico to Juan Vega and Maximina Laureano. She was the youngest daughter out of eleven brothers and sisters and was the ninth child of her mother and father.

Mrs. Irizarry, received her Bachelor of Arts at the University of Puerto Rico in 1964 and Masters in Social Work at the University of Puerto Rico in 1966. She worked as a Social Worker for many years after graduating. She later worked as the office manager at Allstate Insurance Agency with her beloved late husband, Fransisco Irizarry. Carmen was a devout wife, mother, and friend who loved traveling, cooking, and caring for her family.

Carmen Irizarry is survived by her daughter, Laura Irizarry, step-daughters Emelina Irizarry, Katia Irizarry, Ishbel Irizarry, Beth Irizarry, and many loving nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 9:00am on Friday, December 9, 2022 at Incarnation Catholic Church, 5124 Gateway Drive, Tampa Florida 33615. Graveside services will be on the same day at 2:00pm at the Bay Pines National Cemetery, 10000 Bay Pines Blvd, St. Petersburg, FL 33708, where she will be laid to rest with her husband, Fransisco Irizarry.
