

Carole Ann Garvey Inglis passed away peacefully September 30, 2023, in Houston, TX at the age of 86. She was born November 6, 1936, in White Plains, NY, the daughter of the late Madelon and William Gabel. She was an adorable child with golden curls and beautiful hazel eyes. She was a child model and was featured several times in ad campaigns for Life Magazine. Carole attended Pelham High School and graduated from St. Michael’s College at the University of Toronto in 1958. She was an active member of Alpha Phi Sorority.
Carole enjoyed living and working in Manhattan where she met and married her sweetheart, Paul D. Garvey in 1961. They moved to Houston in 1966 with Exxon. She loved to travel and was an excellent tennis player and snow skier. She enjoyed being a devoted wife, homemaker, and wonderful mother. She had an avid social life with loving family and friends and was never one to miss a party, a birthday or any special occasion. Carole’s love of life and people was reflected and adored by everyone who knew her. She was beautiful, loving, thoughtful and kind. She and Paul had wonderful parties at their home on Pebblebrook Dr. starting in the 1970s, including their very popular annual New Year’s Day party that always featured their infamous milk punch libation.
Carole and Paul were devout Catholics and were very active at St. John Vianney Catholic Church since its inception in 1966. She was a Sunday School teacher and a member of the St. John Vianney Sanctuary Choir for over 40 years. She was also involved in the Adult Learning Program Seminars. Carole and Paul were founding members of the Houston Racquet Club in 1968 and they, along with their three children enjoyed year-round tennis tournaments, parties, and many fun activities there. She was a Real Estate agent throughout the 1980s and 1990s and enjoyed meeting and assisting people. She was also involved in the Exxon Retirement Community.
Carole married Jack Inglis in 1996 after both of their loving spouses passed away. The families were friends for decades as Paul and Jack both worked for Exxon. Carole and Jack loved to travel and experienced wonderful adventures together.
Carole is preceded in death by her husband Paul D. Garvey. Carole is survived by her daughter, Barbara Linda Garvey, sons Paul Donald Garvey, Jr., David William Garvey (wife Baba), and brother William Rodney Gabel (wife Ann). Carole is also preceded in death by her husband Jack Inglis, his daughter Mary Inglis and is survived by his children Scott Inglis (wife Martha), John Inglis (wife Ulrike) and Ann Inglis (husband Stan).
Carole absolutely adored and cherished her grandchildren Scott, Tyler and Ryan Garvey, Connor Inglis (wife Megan), Sam Inglis and Sophie Schellhammer.
A visitation will be held at 5:30pm Monday, October 23, 2023 followed by a Vigil at 6:30pm at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral mass with be held at St. John Vianney Catholic Church at 10:30am Tuesday, October 24, 2023.
