On March 18, 1922 Catherine was born to Fred and Louise Whitcher Loukas in Port Arthur, Texas. She would be the third child and the oldest daughter in a family that would eventually grow to 10 children. With her death there are only two siblings left - Arthur Loukas of Houston and Janet Spann of Nashville, TN.
Catherine was also known as "Sis" to the immediate family and "Kitty" to extended family and friends.
On June 26, 1943 Catherine married Ralph Norman Bazar. She was 21 and he was 25. Ralph was also known as Jake by his family. There were married for 53 years before Ralph passed away in 1996. They had one child, a daughter named Penelope – nicknamed Penny. Catherine was a stay at home mother and home maker. She was a wonderful, loving wife and mother. To quote Ralph; “When God made Kitty he threw the mold away – she was one of a kind.”
She loved children, dogs, music, dance and dance recitals and yard work. She took great delight in a well-manicured yard and her flowers. Birds and frolicking squirrels in her yard also brought her enjoyment. Her beloved dog, Destiny, was her faithful and fun loving companion for 13 years until her death in Oct. 2014. Catherine was devastated.
The birth of her two granddaughters Tracy Rand and Tara Rowan were highlights in her life. Then years later the birth of her two great grandsons, Evan and Ayden Rand brought great enjoyment. She loved all of these wonderful children.
Catherine will be greatly missed but the precious memories and love will continue. She is survived by her daughter, Penelope Hazlewood; granddaughters, Tracy Rand and Tara Rowan; grandsons in law Shane Rand and Mike Rowan; great grandsons, Evan and Ayden Rand; a brother Arthur Loukas and one sister, Janet Spann.
The family would like to say thanks to all of Catherine’s family and friends who have been such a blessing and help to Catherine in the last few years. Each of you are truly earthly angels.
