

CATHERINE FLORA JONES GAY, age 81, passed away on November 23, 2023. She was the daughter of James Albert Jones and Ethel Maynard Doucet. She was born on June 11, 1942, in Lancaster, California. She was the middle of three children, with older sister Billie Jean Doucet Coulter and younger brother George Oliver Jones.
She is survived by her brother George and wife Peggy; and her three children: son Landrum G Gay, III and wife Joan Gay; son Todd Taylor Gay and wife Michelle Gay; and daughter Stephanie Ann Gay. She is also survived by her six grandchildren: Chase Ryan Gay, Connor Riley Gay, Dillan Lee Gay, Hannah Lee Gay, Landrum Griffith Silverman and Zachary Abraham Silverman; and nieces and other family, all whom she loved dearly.
Catherine was a former resident of Virginia, Mississippi and North Hollywood, California where she spent her early childhood; Houston, Texas where she spent her teenage years and graduated from Lamar High School; Pensacola, Florida; Alief, Texas where she raised her family; and Richmond, Texas, where she resided for over twenty years and at the time of her passing.
Catherine was an administrative assistant, legal secretary, and board secretary throughout her career. She worked for several law firms and oil and gas companies including Superior Oil Company, Transco Energy, Enstar Energy and Far East Energy, whom she served with great loyalty, efficiency, and professionalism. In her retirement she also worked at a sewing store, which she enjoyed greatly.
Catherine was a loving mother who raised her three children with strength, dignity, and a sense of humor. Catherine never met a stranger and made friends easily. She was a caring and kind person who looked out for others. She was a faithful servant of God, whom she loved as her savior, and a member of the Second Baptist Church.
Catherine loved to read scripture, cook, garden, decorate her home for the holidays, research genealogy, watch historical dramas, and she was a collector of many treasures. She was passionate about sewing and embroidery, her favorite pastime, often undertaking crafting projects for her family.
Her love of God, her children and especially her grandchildren were her world.
