

Chance Leon Johnson, 44, passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2016 in Hayward, California. He was born on January 4, 1972 in Castro Valley, California. He spent his formative years in the San Francisco bay area, while visiting his Houston-based family as often as he was able to. In 1990, at age 18, he moved to Houston to spend more time with his family. While in Houston he attended ITT Technical Institute to pursue a degree in Electronics Engineering. He received his Associates Degree from ITT in Houston in 1993. Chance moved back to California in 1996. He spent the last 10 years of his life, selflessly devoting his time as a full time caretaker for his disabled father.
Chance will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and great smile. He was a kind, loyal and generous person who loved his family, especially his niece and nephews. In his leisure time he enjoyed playing online poker and reading fiction novels.
He is survived by his mother Jackie Murray and husband Wayne, father, Gerald Johnson, brother Adam Murray and wife Amanda, niece, Olivia Murray, nephews, Adam Jude "A.J." Murray, Owen Murray, maternal grandparents, Betty and Solly Hemus, aunt, Cindy Durkin and husband John, Uncle Robert Thomas and wife Linda.
The family will be receiving friends and family on Monday, August 8th from 9:30 am to 10:30 am before the memorial service; A memorial service will follow at 10:30 am at Advantage Funeral Home 7010 Chetwood Dr. Houston, Texas 77081. Burial of the ashes will follow at 12:15 pm at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery 6900 Lawndale St. Houston, Texas 77023.
