Charles Edward Hill, Jr. (“Charlie”), a devoted husband, father and proud grandfather, met his Lord and Savior on January 3, 2026, at the age of 63, surrounded by his loving family. Charlie was born on April 30, 1962, to Charles Edward Hill, Sr. and Wanda Jo Hill in Houston, Texas. He was a man of great faith, immense integrity, kindness, and generosity, with a legendary sense of humor. He graduated from Waltrip High School in Houston, Texas, in 1980 and worked for thirty plus years in the automotive business where he was known for his hardworking, dedicated, innovative spirit and mentorship. Despite his many responsibilities, he always had time for his family, leaving a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
Charlie married the love of his life, Debbie Hartwig Hill, and together they built a beautiful life, raising two daughters, Tara Kay Hill Kana and Leslie Christine Hill Scheffer. Charlie found joy with simply being with his family and grand-children. His most favorite pastime was watching his granddaughter, Maddie, play softball and traveling with his faithful companion, Rooster Cogburn, his beloved Red Bone Coon Hound, to his mancave in the Hill Country. Charlie and Debbie enjoyed traveling to Pensacola, Florida as often as they could to spend quality time together while listening to the waves with toes in the sand. He loved deep meaningful conversations and cherished those moments with whomever would give it to him. While politics was always a conversation he enjoyed, the one topic that was closest to his heart was to bear witness and spread the word of Jesus Christ our Savior.
He is survived by his wife, Debbie; his daughters Tara (Logan) and Leslie (Cameron); his grandchildren, Madelyn Grace Sharp and Fisher Hayes Kana; and many cherished nieces, nephews, family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Diana Thrash and Vicki LaVasseur.
We find comfort in knowing that Charlie’s legacy lives on through the lessons he taught, the love he shared for Jesus, and the memories we will cherish forever. His immensely large heart and caring nature was felt and cherished by all who had the pleasure to know him. His wit, charm and dry sense of humor could brighten anyone’s day and he will be dearly missed by all.
A visitation will be held at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, located at 13001 Katy Fwy, Houston, TX 77079, on January 11, 2026, from 5:00-8:00 pm.
