We were fortunate to have Chuck as our neighbor for 23 years. He was 70 when we moved here, but he was always full of energy and enthusiasm and we developed a great friendship. Chuck and Tommy were very influential in my life and helped us in many ways. I see things in almost every room of our house that he built for us, from window dressings to toy chests that we will cherish for years to come. 

I don't recall ever seeing Chuck in a bad mood. I admired his resilience in life. When he lost Tommy, he kept going. When he cut his fingers on the table saw the second time and he had to stop woodworking, he kept going. He kept mowing his own yard until he was almost 90, and drove his car even longer. We did crossword puzzles together and watched lots of ball games, had many chats together regularly up until the last time they took him to the hospital. He was a good neighbor and a great man. I will miss him.

As oldest nephew, I treasure all the great stories, advice, love and guiding advice which still rings in my ears many times every day. Thank God we all know where you are and how much love you have given each of us.

My earliest memory of my Uncle Nowell was in Hearne, Texas.  While wataching a movie I felt a gentle tap on my shoulder.  I could not believe my eyes!  My handsome uncle was home from the war and had come to surprise me.  I don't remember my age, the movie, or anything else except how wonderful it was to see my uncle in his dashing Army Air Force uniform and to have him home, safe and sound, from WWII combat. I have many rememberances of Uncle Nowell and always marveled that he was so talented in so many different areas.  Such a good-natured, kind, intellegent man was also a talented craftsman (ceramic and wood), marvelous at games, crossword puzzles (daily) and always ready to try something new. I mentioned wanting a rocking horse (that I could ride) and about a week later he called and said, "I have your rocking horse!" My daughter wanted a cedar chest and in no time, I got another call. If his shop could talk, what stories we would hear.  Uncle Nowell was loved and will be missed by all that knew him except those greeting him in Heaven.  I am happy the family is all together again.

He was Chuck, he was Nowell, he was loved. He was a good man who loved his family.  It is somehow comforting knowing he and Rollin (Max), and Mike are all together somewhere, building something for God. My love to all the family, Kay

Well Paw Paw I know that you're in heaven today with the latest news on the Astros and all the stats for Dad, Maw Maw, an Uncle Fat's. I will miss those crossword puzzles that we sat and spoke over. I will miss bringing you Chester's cheeto chips and Yahoos chocolate drinks when visiting. My sons are still amazed and proud of all the wooden crafted tokens that they have held and could feel the raw craftsmanship that was put into each and every detail by your own hands. We will miss the quick comebacks and great humor with each topic of baseball and football. Paw Paw you stand the highest of men today because we know that with all your adventures and tales each and every one of them will be held in the highest regard in my memories of the type of man we should all strive to be.  God has true Craftsmen in heaven these days and between you and Dad I'm sure we will be taken back with all the beautiful touches you both will contribute to. We Love You Very Much, Danny, Laurie, Trey, Colby, and Brieanna Taylor.

My PawPaw was a wonderful man.  Words cannot express how much I will miss him.  He never worried about anything, except if the Astros were going to Win. He was always cheerful, and told funny jokes to us kids.  I have such wonderful memories, and I will cherish them always.  He and Babaw are together forever, and I know they will be our Guardian Angels.  GOD Bless You PawPaw.

A good man has gone to his deserved rest.  I will always remember Chuck for his love of woodworking & people.  He readily shared his talents by teaching and unselfishly giving of his time to help others.  I remember some of those projects, like a lifesize dollhouse, that he did for others.  May he rest in peace at the big workshop in the sky.

My life is diminished without my father's positive enthusiasm. He loved gadgets - got a computer a decade ago and we emailed almost daily. He signed his messages "TGM" - The Gadget Man.  I miss him and cherish TGM's memory.  Love, your daughter
