Charlsie was born in 1952 and went to be in God's arms October 3, 2021. She is survived by her husband Vance, daughter Catherine, grandchildren Jordan and Georgia, brother Jimmy, sister Brandye and step-mother Gwen. She obtained her Bachelor's degree from SFA and Master's degree from St. Thomas U. Charlsie taught for decades at Aldine High where she taught advanced classes in English literature and art history. She was a faithful and hard working member of St. Mark's UMC. She taught Sunday School for children, taught confirmation, volunteered for VBS, worked on the Garden Team, served on the CDC Board, Staff Parish Relations Team, Finance Team, Church Council, and the Care Team. She also played hand bells and started an adult Sunday School class that she led faithfully. Charlsie's gentle spirit, steadfastness, wisdom and humor made her a gift to all those ministries and those who knew her. She enjoyed sewing and when Covid hit she made masks for dozens of people. And she LOVED to travel. Every summer she had to go someplace, whether a national park or a foreign country.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make a donation to St. Mark's, 600 Pecore, 77009.
The service is scheduled for 4 pm on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at St. Mark's and will be broadcast at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QaodHcXg9oA
