Christine R. Veal, 86, of Houston, Texas, peacefully passed away on December 5, 2025. Born on January 4, 1939, in Hardwood, Louisiana, to Rozell and Pearlina Owens. Christine graduated from John Dawson High School and began her life’s journey as a devoted wife to Alfred Woodall, the proud parents of two sons, Frederick and Kenneth. She later married Jimmie Veal Jr, and together they were blessed with three children: Effrim, Vlryn, and Rhonda.
Christine enjoyed a rewarding 28-year career with J.C. Penney, where she was admired for her dedication. Her deepest passion; however, was devoting herself to her church family. She faithfully served on the Usher Board Ministry for over 40 years, until her declining health. She also enjoyed gardening, dancing, and bringing joy to those around her!
She is preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie Veal Jr.; sons, Kenneth Woodall and Vlryn Veal; her parents, Perlina Owens and Rozell Brown; sisters, Gussie Baldwin and Emma Davis; and brothers, John Wesley and Rozell Brown.
Left to honor her legacy are her children: Frederick Woodall (Tammy), Effrim Veal (Susan), and Rhonda Clark (Dennis); daughter-in-law, Marceil Veal (Vlryn); sister, Bertha Ferguson; four brothers, Earl Cloy, Alvin Roundtree, Charles Roundtree (Betty), and Robert (Cora); eleven grandchildren; fourteen great-grand children; and a wide circle of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She also leaves two cherished godsons, Pete Gilmore and Roy Weeks. Christine is further remembered by a devoted and special “Village of Love,” whose lives she touched deeply and who will forever hold her memory in their hearts.
