Clora was born January 23, 1930, in Charleston, West Virginia. Both of her parents passed away when she was nine years old. She was reared in the West Virginia Home for Colored Children. She had many fond memories of this time. She would often tell stories of life in the orphanage. She was the oldest of the three siblings there and took that distinction very seriously. She would tell of the dairy farm and how she would churn butter that was sold all over town.
When she completed her high school education at Douglas High school, she then attended West Virginia State College where she earned a degree in Home Economics. Shortly thereafter she moved to Detroit, Michigan where she resided for many years.
She accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior and worked in the church as an usher for many years. She spent time ministering to the sick and shut in and helping the homebound.
Clora worked for the United States Postal Service for over thirty years and retired from there for her well-earned rest.
She had the opportunity to travel the world over many times but, was a home- body at heart.
Many years later she moved to Jackson, Mississippi where she became a member of College Hill Baptist Church where she faithfully served.
She moved to Houston in 2016 to live with her niece, where she was cherished and enjoyed time with her three nieces and great nieces and nephews.
She spent her last years at Friendship Haven Nursing Home where she made many friends especially her roommate Martha Birnbaum.
She was preceded in death by her parents Hallie McCatney Boddy and Tobe Boddy. Siblings James, (Virginia) Arthur Lee, (Annie Jo), Larnie, (Inez) Toby, Leon Lewis, (Vera)Mary "Sweetie" Morrell (Charles).
She leaves to mourn her passing a host of nieces, nephews, sister-in-law Vera Boddy, brother-in-law Charles Morrell and close friend Portia Anderson.
