Claudie Mae Byrd, 77, of Houston passed away Friday, August 20, 2010. She was born January 18, 1933 in Bethany, LA to Ernest Burns Sr. and Stella Burns. Claudie is preceded in death by her loving husband of 31 years Joseph Byrd; 2 brothers, Willie Burns, Ernest Burns Jr.. Claudie is survived by her loving children, Wanda Tye, Mike Byrd and wife Kathy, Andy Byrd and wife Terri, Jimmy Byrd and wife Pam, Johnny Byrd and wife Maureen, Denise Johnson and husband Johnny, Melinda Smith and husband Troy; 5 sisters, Barbara Burns, Dorothy Futrell, Jean Oliver, Patricia Nolan, Katherine Crouch; 22 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Visitation will be Monday, August 23, 2010 at Brookside Funeral Home from 5:00 to 9:00 pm. Funeral services will be 10:00 am Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at Brookside Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Brookside Memorial Park.
