Connie Minto, 89, passed away December 30, 2017 in Katy, Texas. Connie was born in Houston, Texas to Francis and Constance Woessner. She was a graduate of Lamar High School (Houston) and attended both the University of Texas and the University of Houston. Connie was married to Harry Minto for 46 years, living in Houston, Denver, and eventually Austin over the course of their marriage.
In her 20’s, Connie worked at Humble Oil Company and then she became a stay-at-home mom. Connie was a wonderful Mother, only restarting her work career after her children were in secondary grade levels. For many years she was the welcoming face of Joskes’ candy counter in Austin’s Highland Mall. Later, she served for over 25 years in many different administrative roles in the College of Pharmacy at the University of Texas. Connie loved the Austin area, living there from 1970 until 2009, when she agreed to move closer to her children in the Katy area.
Connie lived in assisted living for the last 8 years, the last 2 of which were in Caydance in Katy. The family expresses our deep appreciation to Caydance and A-Med hospice for the compassionate care given Mom in her last years. Connie was a longtime member of St. John’s United Methodist Church in Austin, Texas, staking claim on her pew, but always welcoming friends and newcomers with her radiant smile.
Connie is preceded in death by her parents, sister Barbara Woessner Driskell, and husband Harry DeNemours Minto. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Lisa Minto and daughter, Karen Pickels. Connie is also survived by 3 grandchildren: Reid Minto, Allison Minto, and Claire Pickels.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2pm, Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Memorial Drive United Methodist Church - 12955 Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77079. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org.
