

Consuelo Fernandez Aponte was born to Juan M. Fernandez and Maria De Jesus G. Fernandez, October 26, 1941, in Houston, Texas. Consuelo is proceeded in death by her husband Carmelo Lopez Aponte, her parents Juan M. Fernandez and Maria De Jesus G. Fernandez, brothers Juan Fernandez Jr., Antonio Fernandez, Jesse Fernandez, Raymond Fernandez, and sister Carolina Gomez.
Consuelo was a devoted wife to Carmelo with whom she shared 61 beautiful years of marriage. Together they built a loving home in Houston, Texas, and raised 4 children.
She is survived by: Son Carmelo Aponte Jr. (Patricia), Daughter Carmen Ramos (Robert), Son Alex Aponte, Daughter Iris Casas (Chris). She also leaves to cherish her memory her Grandchildren Krystin Nieto (Zeke), Matthew Casas (Caitlin), Carl Aponte (Lauren), Victoria Rodriguez (Adam), Courtney Patterson (Jacob), Carissa Aponte, Samantha Ramos, Molly Casas, and Olivia Casas. Great Grandchildren Ava Casas, Luke Nieto, Matthew Nieto, Lorelei Aponte, Nicolas Nieto, Vivian Patterson, Korina Nieto, and Benjamin Rodriguez. Surviving sisters and brothers, Mary Ochoa, Delia Lopez, Cynthia Vera, Debbie Fernandez, Lino Barajas, and Rene Barajas, and numerus other relatives and friends.
In her early age Consuelo worked in the family business selling Mexican sweet bread. This was where she met her husband, Carmelo. Consuelo also worked for L.G. Balfour Company, this was the company that made school class rings. In her later years Consuelo worked for the Pasadena ISD, where she retired after ten years. Consuelo was well known for her homemade tamales. Family and friends were always looking forward to the holidays to be able to enjoy them. Her talents extended to arts and crafts and baking, where her cakes were as beautiful as delicious.
Consuelo had a deep faith in God and always prayed the Holy Rosary every day. Her faith was the foundation of her life. She found peace in her spiritual devotion.
In her days after retirement she enjoyed casino trips, going to family celebrations, and cherished time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Consuelo spent her final hours surrounded by the love of her children. While she has left the physical world her spirit remains in the hearts of those she touched.
