Craig Hicks

A visitation will be held in Houston on Saturday, December 3, 2011 from 5 until 7 PM at Brookside Funeral Home - Champions, 3410 FM 1960 West, Houston, TX 77068 and a visitation will be held at the Runge Mortuary and Crematory, 838 East Kimberly Rd., Monday, December 5, 2011 from 5-8 pm. Committal services, with military honors, will be held at 11:30 am on Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at Rock Island National Cemetery. Those wishing to attend should gather at the Runge Mortuary by 11 am, Tuesday.

Craig was born on January 7, 1972, in Moline, IL., son of John P. Hicks and Deborah L Williams (Defauw). Craig graduated from Bettendorf High School in 1990, where he played football, baseball and wrestled. He then went onto the United States Navy for a four-year tour where he served active duty on the USS Nimitz. Out of the Navy, Craig attended the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater where he played football. After college he studied at Westwood College of Aviation in Colorado. From there, Craig worked for John Deere maintaining their corporate aircraft. For the past decade or so, Craig worked successfully in sales at Don McGill Toyota of Katy, TX.

Craig was a honest, humble, hardworking, remarkable man who loved his family and friends. A die-hard Green Bay Packer fan from birth, he never missed a game: GO PACK! Though his presence on this earth will be missed, those of us who were lucky enough to call him family or friend, know that the positive effect his life had on this world will long outlast our lifetimes.

Craig was preceded in death by his father John P. Hicks; and grandparents Felix, Eleanor and Marcel. He is survived by his mother Deborah L. Williams (Defauw) of Conroe, TX; Erla Mink (grandmother) of Moline; Pam Hicks (step-mother) of Bettendorf; brothers Mitchel (Kali) Williams of Dubuque and Shane Hicks of Bettendorf; sister Kristi (James) Rathmann of Davenport; along with a number of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
