

Curtis Joel Whitaker Jr., affectionately known as (Jimmy Jet) departed this life and earned his wings on November 23, 2019. Curtis was born on April 2, 1957 in Houston,Texas to the late Curtis Whitaker and Gloria M. Eatmon.
Curtis attended Phillis Wheatley High School, where he graduated with the class of 1975.
Curtis retired with 33 years of combined service with Southern Pacific, Amtrak, Virginia Railway Express (Railplan) located in Northern Virginia.
Curtis was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church located in McDonough, Georgia. He was an avid golfer and was a member of The Atlanta Pinseekers Golf Association (TAP). Curtis was a diehard fan of the Tennessee Titans. Curtis loved to grill and everyone who knew him loved his smoked cuisine.
Curtis was predeceased by his father Curtis Whitaker and his sister Gloria Jean Lastrap.
Curtis leaves to cherish memories to his loving wife, soulmate, and best friend Brenda Whitaker, daughters Monica Carter, Daveisha Carpenter, Sons Kevin Carter, Irvin Carpenter III, mother Gloria M Eatmon, sisters, Dr Frankie L Patterson, Alice Smith, brother, Damond Benjamin, sister-in-laws Azure Benjamin, Betty Holloway, Jacqueline Washington, brother and sister-in-law Linton and Evelyn Weems, grandsons, Braedyn Carpenter (whom he was raising) Freddy Myers, Marquise Myers, Maurice Myers, granddaughters, Franchelle Myers, Kanesha Carter, and Kavana Carter.
