Cyril C. Spackman passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 18, 2022. He was born in Grafton, North Dakota on October 21, 1928, to Sydney Herbert Spackman and Helen Runkle Spackman both deceased. Cyril was the youngest of three sons. The oldest brother Stanley died in 1930 at age 12 and Vernon died in 1980.
Cyril graduated high school in St. Thomas, North Dakota and attended N.D.A.C., now called North Dakota State University. Cyril served active duty in the U.S. Army for two years during the Korean War. After serving his time in the service he married his loving wife Beverly Spackman of Bismarck, North Dakota where they were married on April 25, 1953. Beverly passed away in 2000. There are two children that made their lives complete, Jeffrey Wayne Spackman (and his wife Kathy Spackman) and Diane Karen Spackman. He is survived by Jeff and Diane, two granddaughters, Jessica Spackman, and Candice Spackman, along with two loving great grandchildren, Aubrey Campbell, and Julian Spackman.
The oil business moved the Spackman family from Bismarck, North Dakota to Billings, Montana, then to Ventura California and finally to Houston Texas in 1970. Cyril was a draftsman with Cities Service, then Carter Oil Company in Billings, then Conoco as a Geophysical Data Manager for 19 years followed by nine additional years with Anadarko Petroleum before finally retiring in 1994.
Cyril Spackman was a member of St. Johns Presbyterian Church for a number of years and then joined Grace Presbyterian Church after Beverly passed away. He became an active member singing in the Encore Choir, a Stephen’s Minister, and serving as a deacon.
Memorials can be made to either church or to a personal preference.
