Dana Shannon Lindsay Bruner passed away on Saturday, the 5th of May 2018. She was born in Galveston, on the 5th of October 1915, to James Alfred Shannon and Dana Sproule Shannon. She moved to Houston with her family in 1927.
She was active in numerous social and charitable organizations and was a leader in the Cub Scouts and the Brownie Scouts. Dana was a member and past president of Chi Omega Mothers Club, P.E.O. Chapter BB, the River Oaks Friendship Club, the McDaniel Sunday School Class and the U.M.W. of Westminster United Methodist Church, her church home since 1956.
Dana is preceded in death by her parents; her brother, James Alfred Shannon, Jr.; and her husbands, Malcolme Storey Lindsay and Calvin G. “Red” Bruner. She is survived by her son, Malcolme Storey Lindsay, Jr. and his wife Sonja, of Celje, Slovenia; her daughter, Dana Lindsay Albright and her husband Jack of Jacksonville; her stepson, Robert Gordon Bruner and his partner Bernard Sullivan of Corpus Christie; her granddaughter, Judy Albright Griscom and her husband Scott of New Braunfels; grandson, John Lindsay Albright and his wife Debbie of San Antonio; her step-grandson, Johnny Lindsay; her step-granddaughter, Tjasa Salobir; her four great-grandchildren, Travis Scott Griscom, Tyler Michael Griscom, John Wesley Albright and Stevie Marie Albright; as well as several beloved nieces and nephews.
A memorial service and celebration of her life is to be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon on Thursday, the 10th of May, at Westminster United Methodist Church, 5801 San Felipe St. in Houston, where the Rev. Jeff Powers and the Rev. Suzi Byrd are to officiate.
Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception in the narthex of the sanctuary.
