"I am home in Heaven, dear ones; Oh, so happy and so bright! There is perfect joy and beauty, in this everlasting light. All the pain and grief is over, every restless tossing passed: I am now at peace forever, safely home in Heaven at last." Obituary David Cornish, 68, left us to be with the Lord, Saturday, October 3, 2015 at his current home in Spring, TX. He was born, June 4, 1947, in Houston, TX. David grew up in the Acres Homes Community of Houston, TX and attended Booker T. Washington High School. He was united in holy matrimony to Rosslyn Evette Foster-Thompson on January 23, 1976. They have spent the last 45 years together and 39 of those years in wedded blessedness, and he was all about keeping her happy. David was an active member of the Lyons Community Church, under Rev. O. C. Johnson; he later joined Brookhollow: The Church Without Walls, under the Pastor Ralph Douglas West. Most recently he joined The Fellowship Community Church under the guidance of Reverend Carol Gonzales, where he served on the Deacon board, and Men's choir. He was a peaceful man of faith, and loved being active in the church. He enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved traveling, fishing, playing dominoes and working in the yard. He took pride in showing off his vegetable garden and fruit trees. David also loved socializing with the neighbors, no one was a stranger. Most important to him was his family; he loved his children and grandchildren dearly. He touched everyone he met in a special way. He had a great sense of humor. We were blessed to experience many of his witty inventions - he just had a way of recycling things around the house. David was never an idle person, he loved to keep busy. He spent his younger years in the construction business and most of his career as a truck driver. Nevertheless, he was a jack of all trades, learning something new was always in the forefront. He leaves to cherish his memory, his lovely wife, Rosslyn of 39 years. Four (4) children: Alesheia (Frank) Perry, Charles E. (LaTasha) Cornish, Sr., Katena (Johnnie) Berotte, David D. (Jennifer) Cornish. Thirteen (13) grandchildren who know him as "Big Daddy": D. Renay Perry, Alyssa R. Perry, Kahlil C. Berotte, Jordan L. Berotte, Charles E. Cornish, Jr., Desmond J. Perry, Brandye M. Perry, Cameron E. Cornish, Kristopher J. Berotte, Kayla L. Cornish, Crystal N. Perry, Kandice J. Cornish, Kourtney C. Cornish. He also leaves his brothers: Andrew Cornish, Lewis Cornish, Patrick Jackson, and one sister Paula Cornish. David would like to let you all know that his work here is done. He received a call, sort of an offer he couldn't refuse, for an appointment from which he will not be returning. This assignment comes with a huge sign-on bonus, a reunion with family and friends he has not seen in a long time. He put a sign on the door, it stated "Gone Fishing, I will not be returning." He will enjoy seeing those that preceded him in death: his mother, Ora Lee Cornish, his sister, Ellen Francis "Coco" Cornish and one grandchild, Chloe Nalene Cornish, as well as a host of other family and friends. Services for David will be held Saturday, October 10, 2015, at Greater Zion M.B.C.1620 Dolly Wright Houston, TX 77088. The viewing will begin at 10:00am, followed by The Life Celebration at 11:00am. Dr. Charles E. Perry, Jr., Pastor - Word of Restoration Church /Eulogist Pastor Dayle Perry, Host Pastor. Interment: Paradise Cemetery North
