

David grew up in Lafayette, Louisiana, where he learned to treasure his Acadian heritage. Educated early in life by the Jesuits, he attended Cathedral High School before going to Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama. As a student-athlete, he starred on the basketball team, while earning his degree in biology.
After college, he earned his degree in Medicine from Louisiana State University Medical School in New Orleans, while also serving in the Medical Corps. of the United States Army. As a major, David served at the Presidio in San Francisco, and Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio.
Following his military service, David settled in Houston where he dedicated over fifty years of his life to Kelsey-Seybold Clinic. As Managing Physician of the Tanglewood Clinic, David specialized in Internal and Nuclear medicine. Through the years, David developed patient-physician relationships that became true friendships. Patients often described a genuine measure of trust, as well as a sincere measure of respect and depth of attention held for all.
Service and community were central to David’s life. He belonged to numerous medical associations and was President of the Board of the Hilcrest Foundation. He was also deeply involved with the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, where he was honored as a Lifetime Vice President. He was also a past-President of the Tejas Vaqueros, and a member of the Rancheros Visitadores in Santa Barbara, California. He was a regular at the Bohemian Club in California, where he entertained the likes of Presidents Ronald Reagan and George H. W. Bush, Johnny Carson, and Ed McMahon.
David was nationally known as a Cajun humorist with a gift for jokes and storytelling. When he was on stage, audiences sat on the edge of their seats in anticipation of what Boudreaux and Thibodeaux were going to do next.
He is preceded in death by his parents, J. Alfred Mouton Sr. and Irene Barry Mouton; his brothers, John Alfred Mouton II, and James Barry Mouton; his sisters, Louise Alix Cousin, and Adriene Irene Landry; and his beloved son, Mark Tobin Mouton.
David is survived by his wife of thirty-seven years, Debra; his brother, Edward Mouton and his wife Beth; his sister-in-law, Florence Mouton; his sons, David Eugene Jr. and his wife Sally, George Alfred, and John Barry; his daughters, Suzanne Gayle and her husband Brian Odum, and Claire Louise and her husband Mark Resnick; his grandchildren, Alexandra Renee, Mary Katherine, David Eugene III, Brian Hayes, Michael Graham, and Margot Louise; as well as many cherished nieces and nephews.
David’s compassion, humor, and service will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His legacy will live on in all communities he impacted.
The family would like to thank Kristen Moten and Thomas Williams for the loving care and dedication they provided in David’s final months. Words cannot express our appreciation.

Friends are cordially invited to a celebration of life reception with the family from five o’clock in the afternoon to eight o’clock in the evening on Saturday, the 29th of March, at the Forest Club, 9950 Memorial Drive in Houston.
Prior to the reception, the family will have gathered for a private memorial service in the Jasek Chapel at Geo. H. Lewis & Sons in Houston.
