David Stibbs

David Stibbs (Gutierrez), 75, passed away on October 25, 2025. Born on October 13, 1950, in La Ceiba, Honduras, he was the son of the late Melba Stibbs Guerra and the late Adolpho Guerra. At age 14, he moved to Houston, Texas, where he graduated from San Jacinto High School and excelled in football, auto mechanics, and carpentry.

After high school, Mr. Stibbs enlisted in the United States Air Force and achieved the rank of Sergeant. He served in San Antonio, Arkansas, and later in Thailand, where he was forward deployed during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged after completing his service.

After returning to the Houston area, he became a skilled welder and contributed to the construction of the Houston highway system. He also served in the Texas Army National Guard.

Mr. Stibbs later settled in Avon, Colorado, where he served the community as a certified translator, court interpreter, tax preparer, and immigration document preparer. On February 14, 1999, he married Blanca Stibbs (Enamorado), the love of his life.

A devoted Christian, Mr. Stibbs committed his life to his faith and spread the gospel at every opportunity.

He is survived by his wife, Blanca Stibbs, and six grandchildren of Gypsum, Colorado; siblings James Stibbs, Anna Contreras, and Adolph Guerra of Houston, Texas; his children Jaime Gutierrez, Alexander Gutierrez, Melba Best, and Sterling Gutierrez; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren, all of Houston, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Daniel Gutierrez and Benjamin Guerra; his nephew, Jesse Flores of Houston, Texas; and his stepson, Evenor Herrera of Gypsum, Colorado.

Additional funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Funeraria Del Angel, 4136 Broadway St, Houston, Texas. Visitation will be held the same day from 9:00 a.m to 10:30 a.m. Burial will take place the same day at 1:00 p.m. at Brookside Memorial Park, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas.

Después de terminar la preparatoria, David se unió a la Fuerza Aérea de Estados Unidos y alcanzó el rango de sargento. Sirvió en San Antonio, Arkansas, y luego fue enviado a Tailandia durante la Guerra de Vietnam. Al terminar su servicio, recibió una baja honorable.

Como cristiano devoto, David dedicó su vida a su fe y compartió el evangelio en cada oportunidad.

Le sobreviven su esposa, Blanca Stibbs, y seis nietos en Gypsum, Colorado; sus hermanos, James Stibbs, Anna Contreras y Adolph Guerra, de Houston, Texas; sus hijos, Jaime Gutiérrez, Alexander Gutiérrez, Melba Best y Sterling Gutiérrez; y siete nietos y cinco bisnietos, todos de Houston, Texas.

Le precedieron en la muerte sus padres; sus hermanos, Daniel Gutiérrez y Benjamin Guerra; su sobrino, Jesse Flores, de Houston, Texas; y su hijastro, Evenor Herrera, de Gypsum, Colorado.

Servicios funerarios adicionales se llevarán a cabo el sábado 8 de noviembre de 2025 a las 11:00 a. m. en Funeraria Del Ángel, 4136 Broadway St, Houston, Texas.
