Debbye was born Debra Rose Cline on September 26, 1952, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She attended Oklahoma University. After traveling the world in her twenties, Debbye eventually moved to Houston in the 1970’s and worked as a residential real-estate agent before meeting her devoted husband, Dale.
On May 22, 1982, Debbye married Dale, and they were eternally devoted to one another for nearly thirty-eight years before Dale’s passing in 2020. With their unyielding dedication, they raised two sons, supporting them through their education and career development.
Debbye was the quintessential “Super Mom” and “Hostess with the Mostest”, as a longtime supporter of a variety of charities and causes, PTA leader, and fundraiser extraordinaire. She was known for her decadent house parties, particularly around Easter and Christmas, with extraordinary seasonal décor, and amazing spreads of both home cooked and catered delicacies, including her legendary seafood gumbo.
Debbye cherished her family and friends more than anything in the world. She was known for her welcoming hospitality, a smile that could light up any room, and her ability to make friends anywhere and everywhere she went. She carried herself with grace, brought joy and laughter to everyone around her, and never shied away from a vigorous, good-hearted debate amongst friends.
Debbye was preceded in death by her parents, Sharon Rose Cline and Norman John Cline, and her beloved husband James Dale Lehman. She is survived by her sister, Johnna Cline Gresham; her sons, James Paul Lehman and John William Lehman; and her granddaughters, Aubrey Rose Lehman and Meghan Ivy Lehman.
A celebration of life will occur Monday, February 9, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, at 13001 Katy Fwy, Houston, TX 77079.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of Debbye to the Houston Chapter of Habitat for Humanity or The Brain Aneurysm Foundation (BAF).
