

Del M. Benson (DB), 75, began her journey to eternal life on October 24th, 2015 in Tyler, Texas, surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Del celebrated life and protected those she loved. She was dedicated to her family, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchild. Del enjoyed boating, dancing, travel, golf, bowling and playing bridge. She was “Grandmama” to her grandchildren and was their loving partner in crime.
Del was born, January 5, 1940 in Nacogdoches, Texas and grew up in Beaumont, Texas. She was a 1958 graduate of Forest Park High School. She spent her adult years in Houston working as a bookkeeper for several companies. Later in her career, she owned a manufacturing business and a collectible retail store. In semi-retirement, she catered lunches in medical offices all over the Greater Houston area. Her food was legendary and many local doctors had DB cater their family Christmas dinners. There was great sadness and weight loss when DB retired.
Del is preceded in death by her husband, Frank Benson; her parents, Pete and Mary Lou Martines; brother, Larry Martines and sisters, Cecelia and Judy Martines. Del is survived by her children; Robert Adams, Waller, TX; Cheryl Buzbee, Tyler, TX; brother, Pete Martines Jr. and wife Mary Ann, Friendswood, TX.; sister, Dixie Knowles and husband, Jerry, Katy, TX. Her grandchildren are Taren Adams, Katy, TX; Hunter Adams, Houston, TX; Kyle, Allie and Meridith Buzbee ,Tyler, TX and great-grandchild Kynlee Adams. She had a large, extended family with many cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. She will be missed by all.
